Welcome! I am currently an Associate Professor at Department of Information Engineeing, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I received my PhD degree from Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2004. I was a visiting scholar at Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from July to August, 2007 and July to August, 2009, and a visiting scholar at California Institute of Technology during the summer of 2014. I am a Fellow of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE ComSoc.

I has served as the Chair of the Executive Editor Committee of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications. Previously, I served as an Executuve Editor of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Communications, and Willey Security and Communications Networks Journal. I am a Lead Guest Editor of IEEE JSAC Special Issue on Communications and Data Analytics in Smart Grid, a Guest Editor of IEEE IoT Journal Special Issue on Internet-of-Things for Smart Energy Systems and a Guest Editor of IEEE Communications Magazine, Feature Topic on New R&D Tools for Communications Research. I have served on the Organizing Committees of many top confereces, including IEEE GLOBECOM, ICC, VTC, SmartGridComm CCNC, ICCC, ICCCN, WCSP, ICCS, MASS, etc. I has served as the Founding Chair of IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee of Smart Grid Communications, the Chair of IEEE Emerging Technical Committee on Smart Grid Communications and a Member of the Steer Committee of IEEE SmartGridComm conference. Previously, I was the Co-Chair of IEEE ComSoc Multimedia Communications Technical Committee, Interest Group of Wireless Technology for Multimedia Communications, and the Founding Chair of IEEE ComSoc Graduate Of the Last Decade (GOLD) Committee.

My research interests focus on optimization in wireless systems design with application on optimal resource allocation, joint PHY-MAC layer design, cognitive radio networks, random-access networks, broadband OFDM and multicarrier techniques, MIMO signal processing. I am also interested in smart power grid research, including electric vehicle charging, frequency and voltage control, energy storage systesm, advanced metering infrastrcture, etc.

I am a co-recipient of 2014 IEEE Comsoc Asia Pacific Outstanding Paper Award, 2013 IEEE SmartGridComm Best Paper Award, 2011 IEEE Marconi Prize Paper Award on Wireless Communications and a recipient of 2011 Young Researcher Award of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. As the only winner from Engineering Science, I have won the Hong Kong Young Scientist Award 2006, conferred by the Hong Kong Institution of Science.
